I am a marine ornithologist and my work in the Chagos Archipelago is to add to the long-term breeding seabird monitoring. My aim is to update the status, distribution and breeding penology of all species of seabird across the archipelago.
Having up to date data on the status and distribution of seabirds is critical for many of the current research projects. The data I collect will be shared with other scientists and will be used to underpin their research. This will include research into nutrient transfer between ecosystems and the impact of invasive rats on seabirds and on nutrient transfers.

Seabirds are important environmental indicators and understanding their status can help us to understand the health of the marine ecosystem as a whole.
